After You Send Your Application

What do I need to do after sending the CPPD benefits application?

Service Canada will start processing your case once they receive your Application form. However, your application will only be complete when Service Canada receives your Medical Report. Remember to follow up with your doctor or the healthcare professional who is providing your Medical Report to Service Canada.

You can send more information after you submit your application. For example, if you receive a medical test result related to your claim after you submitted your application, send the result as soon as possible so it can arrive before the adjudicator finalized their decision.

How long does it take to get a decision for my CPPD benefits?

  • You are likely to receive your decision within four months. This is only an estimate. Depending on the complexity of your case and receipt of documents, it may take longer.
  •  Once Service Canada decides on your application, they will send you a letter explaining the reasons for their decisions.

I applied for CPPD benefits, and I received a phone call from Service Canada.

  • Service Canada will call you
  • To let you know that they received your application
  • To explain how your application will be processed
  • To ask for more information required to determine your application
